Description
Portrait of the producer : Alexandros Giannakopoulos
Claire and Alexandros live in the mountain village of Lagkada in West Mani. They produce products representative of this unique region and work to preserve its landscape.
Alexandros has been working for four years to regenerate the surrounding fields. Indeed, due to the aging of the population or their departure for the big cities, most of the fields have been abandoned by their owners. Alexandros brings these fields back to life, first by recreating an access to the fields, then by pruning the trees, and finally by harvesting the olives. After a period of 5 years without harvesting, the tree stops producing. This annual work is therefore necessary to preserve this gastronomic heritage that is the Koroneiki olive trees.
